Do you know Penny’s story?
The quick version, she came to us with 2 broken legs and spent 4 months in her kennel. Surgery, rehab, laser treatment, and finally training. She is a PUPPY and still needs to learn how to behave. Penny went to training and has come so far but her forever family must train and teach as if she is much younger then she is … she will catch up but she needs a family who is dedicated to her.
Penny is a sweet, hyper, active, silly puppy. Penny needs an owner that wants to play and train. Penny loves all dogs, cats and all people. She would do best in a family with other animals to play with, but no small kids. Kids should 12+. She HAD food aggression and her training is fantastic but not a risk we will allow.
Penny knows, “Kennel”, “Place” “Come” “Sit” “Wait” “Out” “Nope” “Yes” “Good Girl” **Out is used like leave it and is used to back up from the kennel door and stop eating poop.
Penny can currently be left a max of 4 hours as she is 60% potty trained – this is because of her broken legs and so many months in the kennel.
Penny is so ready and excited to learn, run, see the world – or at least local hikes, dog play dates and to cuddle you on the couch. Penny would thrive as a hiking buddy and eventually a running partner.
Penny is currently trained to walk on the prong collar, because a harness, back or front clip would be more harm than good as her back legs continue to strengthen. The prong collar is a safe and effective training tool when fitted and used appropriately it causes no harm or pain to the dog. Penny is very smart and picked up her training quickly! However, unless her new family continues the training she is smart enough to learn that she can get away with naughty behavior such as nipping, eating poop, barking or peeing in the house, if it is not corrected appropriately and consistently. Penny is such a sweet girl and will be invited to attend Tuesday group day at In Home Dog in Hillsboro, the staff adore her very much and so do her doggy and cat friends who she's met there. From RD, Penny’s trainer.
"Penny responds best to balance training using physical corrections, unfortunately we have found that force-free training methods ramp penny up to a point of unhelpful excitement."
Penny is a silly, hyper, beautiful, puppy that will be a really fun project.

Adoption Info

  • Puplandia only adopts within the Portland metro area (within 1 hour of Beaverton, OR).

  • The first thing you will want to do is check out our pups that are ready for adoption.  Once you come across a fur baby that looks like it might be a good fit, please e-mail to get an application, with the name of the pup in your subject line.

  • Please know that applications are reviewed with a best fit mentality and are not first come first serve.

  • As we are completely foster based, meet and greets are done by appointment only on approved applications.  We do not have a facility that you can go to and meet all available dogs, but we do have monthly adoption events that we promote on our Facebook page and Instagram.

  • We require all of our dogs to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption or in a specific time frame for puppies.  We do not allow ear cropping or tail docking and a home visit is required before any adoption can take place.

  • The cost to adopt a dog is as follows:

-Puppy (Under 1 year old) $400 Fee (Plus a $200 Spay/Neuter Deposit for puppies under 4 months of age.

-Adult dogs  (1 + Years old) $300 Fee

  • The adoption fee ensures that the dog is up to date on shots, microchipped and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. In many cases, the adoption fees do not cover all the costs Puplandia has incurred to get the dog healthy and ready for adoption.  All additional medical costs to ensure a healthy pup are covered entirely through donations.
